Backstage Reaction to Undertaker/Big Show

The knockout finish to the Big Show and Undertaker match at last night’s WWE No Mercy pay-per-view is part of the company’s attempt to put more realistic parts in their matches. Backstage, the finish to the match didn’t go over as well as WWE officials had hopes and they felt that the spot with the exposed turnbuckle didn’t get over as it should have with the live crowd.

Yeah, ‘Taker did kind of look weak out there don’t ya think. Oh well, I don’t think I’m alone in assuming he’ll defeat Big Show in a month or so (depending on whether he takes a break) to end the feud.

Undertaker 3rd Greatest Wrestler Of All Time - UGO

UGO have listed what they think are the 50 greatest wrestlers of all time. Now before you go off on one, remember this is just the opinion of a few individuals, who’s criteria can only be described as random.

Of all the wrestlers on this list, none have had the tenacity and determination of Mark Callaway, the man we know as the Undertaker. One of only two wrestlers to appear on the first episode of Raw that is still with the company, the Deadman has dominated the ring for more than two decades and shows no sign of slowing down.

After debuting in 1990, he won the Heavyweight Championship from Hulk Hogan at Survivor Series. He also started his undefeated WrestleMania streak, which stands at an unbelievable 16-0 record. It’s impossible to recap all of his famous feuds, but we have to call special attention to his face-turning battle with Jake Roberts, his tenure as leader of the Ministry of Darkness, and his 2000 return from injury as the “American Bad Ass.”

Taker has always tried to mix up his arsenal, introducing new moves into his routine every few years, including his brutal new submission, the Gogolplata. Last seen chokeslamming Edge straight to Hell, we have no doubt that the Undertaker will always be there when we need him.

The new WWE Magazine features a listing of the Top 50 WWE [ring] names today. The top three, in order, are WWE Champion Triple H, former World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk and The Undertaker.

No Mercy Preview

Two colossal Superstars, Big Show and Undertaker, will square off at No Mercy, and the fate of SmackDown may very well lay in the wake of their epic battle.

After being reinstated by SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero – the same person who helped banish him from WWE in the first place – Undertaker returned to SmackDown with an irrepressible thirst for vengeance. He refused Guerrero’s pleas for forgiveness, making the dreadful proclamation that he would take her soul and send her to Hell at Unforgiven.

But, when the moment of wrecking arrived, the emerging Deadman was suddenly ambushed by Big Show. The World’s Largest Athlete formed an alliance with Guerrero, adding a mountain of power to her office, and making the annihilation of The Phenom his first order of business on his way to the WWE Championship.

Big Show has promised that if Undertaker is not sorry now for all he’s done to Guerrero, he will be. But, The Deadman has shown time and time again that he is not the forgiving kind – and with every passing day his anger grows as large as his opponent’s mighty fists.

Will Big Show bury Undertaker’s plans for revenge? Or will he become the largest occupant in Hell?

Find out which titan will have their way at No Mercy, live Sunday, Oct. 5, only on pay-per-view.

News on Taker's Knee

According to a fan in attendance at last night’s SmackDown tapings in Columbus, Ohio, Undertaker appeared to aggravate a knee injury during the dark match main event.

He was attacked by Curt Hawkins, Zach Ryder and Bam Neely during his match with Big Show, but eventually cleared the ring. He posed for the crowd and walked for a few minutes before momentarily sitting down on the ring steps before heading to the back.

“Honestly, he looked pretty bad off,” the fan in attendance said. “He was sitting there like he was so exhausted he couldn’t make it up the ramp. He finally walked up the ramp, but he was limping pretty badly. It wasn’t a little limp, it was very noticeable.”

Of course, he could be selling the injury, but he was playing to the crowd before sitting down.

As reported earlier, he recently had his knee checked by doctors and WWE has been limiting his involvement in the ring since his match with Edge at SummerSlam. Taker has been appearing on television in non-wrestling segments and has been working tag matches for the most part so that his partner could handle most of the work in the ring. Undertaker has been telling friends that his knee is still tender and that there is some soreness

Big Show attacks The Underatker at Unforgiven - Results

Big Show’s music hits as he comes down to the ring. On the mic, Big Show tells the crowd ‘hi’. He says that he would like to make a suggestion to Mike Adamle - if he’s looking for a suitable replacement for CM Punk in the World Championship Scramble that he look no further than the World’s Largest Athlete. He says that even Mike Adamle would not leave him out of a Championship Scramble match like Vickie Guerrero did. He says that he is sick of the way that Vickie is running SmackDown. Big Show tells everyone to go SmackDown their vote. He then refers to the WWE Mobile text vote question and asks the fans if they would vote for him to be in the Scramble. That gets a big pop as he thanks the fans. Here comes Vickie Guerrero.

Vickie asks Big Show if he does not understand English or if he just blatantly disregarded her instructions to not cause a disruption or if it was that she would fine him or suspend him indefinitely. She says maybe it’s just because he is a big dumb giant. He stares at her as she tells him not to look at her that way. Vickie tells Show he will deal with the circumstances and for him to get out of her ring. She is cut off by a casket coming out with druids. The druids set the casket down by the ring as Big Show laughs. Big Show points to the casket. The Undertaker appears on the big screen. He tells Vickie Guerrero that he promised her that he was coming for her at Unforgiven. He says that the coffin at ringside will be her final resting place. He asks her if she’ll go voluntarily or if he’s going to come down there and grab her by the throat only for her to smell the sulfuric smell of hell.

The Undertaker’s music hits and he comes to the ring. Big Show has Vickie Guerrero by the arm to keep her from escaping. Vickie looks terrified from the ring. Vickie gets out of the ring and tries to escape through the crowd. Show stops her and puts her in the ring. Undertaker climbs the ring stairs and brings the lights up. Finally Show takes out Undertaker on the outside of the ring. Big Show continues to dominate Undertaker for far too long. The crowd doesn’t seem to buy into it. Finally they start drawing heat when Vickie Guerrero slaps the Undertaker and spits in his face as Big Show holds him back. Big Show helps Vickie Guerrero out of the ring as they leave together.

Summerslam - Captures

The Undertaker vs. Edge - Hell in a Cell at Summerslam

Edge kept up the psycho look on his face during his entrance and it looked great. Jim Ross noted it almost looked like he was looking forward to the match now. JR also noted there has been 15 Hell in a Cell matches in WWE history with Undertaker in 8 of them. Tonight is Edge's first Hell in a Cell.

The referee locks the cage door and the bell rings. Undertaker approaches Edge, but Edge dodges it and gets in a few right hands. Taker pushes Edge away and then launches him to the corner. Taker grabs the bottom part of the steel ring steps and slides them into the ring.

Edge catches Taker with an elbow soon afterwards, sets the steps back up and then drives Taker into them. Edge with a baseball slide and spear combo on Taker right up against the steel steps. Edge counters and drops Taker's head off the ropes. Edge pulls a steel chair out from under the ring and drives it into the neck of Taker. Edge hits the ring with the chair and hits Taker with it once more.

Taker leaves the ring, grabs the steel steps and hits Edge right in the head with them. Taker picks up Edge, puts him on his shoulders, runs towards the steel ring post, but Edge jumps off and sends Taker face first into the post. Edge then backs up, runs, jumps off the steel steps, jumps at Taker and when this happens the two go crashing through the side of the cage breaking it down across the Smackdown announce table! Very cool spot. Taker grabs Edge and sends him face first off the announce table and then sends him back first into the ring barricade. Taker grabs a TV monitor, tries to hit Edge with it, Edge dodges it, kicks Taker, grabs another TV monitor and hits Taker with that. Edge with another shot using the TV monitor. Taker falls across the Raw announce table and begins to stand up when Edge jumps up on the Smackdown announce table, charges, spears Undertaker and they both crash through the ECW announce table breaking it in half!

Edge and Taker are back up. The two exchange a few punches over the broken ECW announce table. Taker gets in some big lefts and rights. Taker grabs Edge and sends him back into the Hell in a Cell. Taker's Return Update

The word backstage at last Tuesday's SmackDown taping was that although Edge called off his wedding with Vickie Guerrero at the end of the show, the creative team is still planning a wedding event for the near future. One source was under the impression that there would still be a wedding this month, but that has not been confirmed.

The wedding was originally planned to take place this Friday night (at tomorrow night's taping), which won't be happening. I'm not sure why they delayed the wedding, but there has been plenty of speculation that Undertaker will return and disrupt the nuptials.

Taker's Return

On the live Smackdown! event on July 2nd which will air Friday 4th July, the wedding for Edge and Vickie was called off after Edge argues and gets angry about his loss of the World title on Monday. The rumor of The undertaker returing at Edge and Vickies wedding may not come true, unless there is something that happens next week at the Smackdown! tapings. If nothing then the big rumor about him returning at SummerSlam may come true.

Undertaker & Triple H To Lead Smackdown Switch To New TV Network

The decision to move Triple H to SmackDown was actually made back around the time the deal with MyNetworkTV was reached. The network knew from the start that they would be marketing the show around The Undertaker and Triple H as the two biggest stars.

Right after WWE’s European tour after WrestleMania, The Undertaker, Edge, Vickie Guerrero and Triple H were brought in to the studio to tape promos for MyNetworkTV. Triple H’s promo had him spitting water into the camera saying, “You’re watching Friday Night SmackDown right here on MyNetwork TV.” The fact that Batista wasn’t there for the promos shows that the decision was made that far back.

Those promos will begin airing this fall. Only a few people knew of the promos and had to sign a non-disclosure agreement which expired on 6/24, because the info was released on 6/23. The actual filming was finished in April and the ads were completed in late May.

Ultimate Warrior Praises ‘Taker

…Some of the good guys I’ve met are guys whose names you wouldn’t even recognize. They were lower-card guys and they were really just good people. The ring crew guys were better people than the talent. I always got along best with them and treated them with respect. One person’s name you would recognize is Owen Hart—Owen Hart was a really good guy. He had his head on straight. Jimmy Powers was a good guy.

Mark Calloway [Calaway] [Undertaker], certainly one of those deserving great respect for what he’s accomplished in the business, was a really great person. Mark is a great example, for me, of what I was mentioning just a second ago.

I was the first guy to work with him. Even though Ultimate Warrior was over as a huge baby-face, the ticket buyers dug [Undertaker’s] gimmick. I could have, with the position I had, been an a-hole and worked in unknown ways to curb that. Instead of trying to damage his gimmick though, as many in the business would have done, I embraced it and worked with him to get it over as the people wanted to have it over.

He was going to be a great talent and I was inspired by that. It made me want to better my own. Too many guys in the business spend too much time conniving ways to make someone else look worse, rather than spending that time on becoming better themselves. You asked about politics earlier—this is politics to me.

Major Spoiler On The Undertaker's WWE Return

Undertaker will return to television by crashing the wedding between Edge & Vickie Guerrero scheduled for a SmackDown taping in mid-July. He will then be plugged right back into his program with Edge and feud with him for at least the rest of the summer. If they don't have a match at The Great American Bash, then definitely at SummerSlam, although it looks like the wedding is happening before GAB, so they could hotshot it for that show too. There was a feeling that his feud with Edge needed to be put on the shelf for a little while, although he did have some nagging injuries to tend to. The feeling was that it was going to run out of steam without a major twist, hence the retirement storyline.

-- As noted earlier, despite his "retirement," Undertaker worked SmackDown's tour of Australia and New Zealand this past week. The decision for him to retire on television was a last minute move, but he had been advertised as the top star on the tour, so they decided to bring him on it. Tickets went on sale several months ago and the company drew huge advances everywhere, so a lot of fans were expecting to see him. The storyline explanation for his appearances on the tour has Shane McMahon coming out at the start of shows to say that he was talking with Vickie Guerrero and they agreed to let him have an "Undertaker farewell tour."

Hey lady, you heard of weight watchers, YOUR A WANKER!Once the match got started it was a hard hitting contest. An Interview about Undertaker's banishment

Dot Net TV reporters Rich Twilling and Chris Shore meet up at the water cooler and discuss the hot topics in professional wrestling.

Today’s topics: Undertaker, the million dollar giveaway, and the draft.

Rich: Obviously Undertaker is not going to retire. However, I like that WWE surprised everyone by giving Edge the win at One Night Stand. Usually with stipulations like these, the result is obvious.

Chris: Yeah, it was a total surprise for me. Nice swerve by Vince McMahon. I guess Taker stays on Smackdown, though, as he won’t be drafted seeing as how he’s “banned from the WWE.”

Rich: I made reference that it could have happened but I am surprised they actually went through with it. Yeah, he will not be drafted. I do not see him going to Raw because Triple H would have to go to Smackdown and we know he is not doing that.

Chris: You’re dead on there. Triple H will never leave the flagship as long as he’s nailing the boss’s daughter. I have Taker pegged to return July 11, the date of Edge and Vickie’s “wedding.” I see Chavo Guerrero playing some part in causing it to happen based upon his response to Edge’s comments last week on Smackdown.

Rich: I rarely enjoy wrestling weddings. I think Chavo looked more baffled and rattled than pissed last week. I suppose he could be in line for a face turn, but I think it will be down the road a bit. I also think Vickie will turn with him. Taker coming back during the wedding makes sense, but if he is really taking time off to heal, it would not be wise to bring him back so quickly.

Chris: It is five weeks away. Of course I have no idea how badly Taker is hurt so 5 weeks may be nothing. Guess we will wait and see. So, did you register for the Million Dollar Mania?

Rich: True, but for these guys five weeks is nothing. However, I would not be surprised at all if you were right and he returned that night. I have registered for the money giveaway everyday but two. I tried to today but the site is running slowly.

Undertaker's Return Update

There is a long-term storyline for The Undertaker’s return to be part of a key angle with Edge, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. There doesn’t appear to be an exact time frame for Undertaker’s return, but it isn’t supposed to be a lengthy sabbatical.

The Undertaker leaving was something kept from the creative team until the addition of the PPV stipulation was announced for his match with Edge at One Night Stand. Vince McMahon himself didn’t want to do an injury angle to avoid giving the perception that the dead man is breaking down.

There have been rumors going around the net that Taker would be returning with his American Badass gimmick but from what we've heard so far, that's not in the plans.

Undertaker's Return Update

Just to put an end to all the conspiracy theories, Undertaker is not retiring or leaving WWE, nor has he violated the Wellness Policy. The line used by multiple sources is that Taker is merely taking time off to let nagging injuries heal. "He's making huge money," said one source who stressed that Taker isn't going anywhere. "He has a long-term deal."

Undertaker's Summerslam Return

…After speaking with several reliable sources, we’ve learned that The Undertaker will be gone from WWE television for several months. Early estimates put his return at SummerSlam in August, however the dead man could be gone until Survivor Series.

Taking time off is nothing new for the Undertaker. For over a decade, Taker has been known to take off several months at a time.

The Undertaker Vs Edge TLC World Heavy Weight Championship at One Night Stand - Captures

Undertakers WWE.com Status

In the past hour The Undertaker has been removed from WWE.com’s Superstar profiles pages, his name is no longer on the active roster. I would however like to add that it was reported earlier in the day on numerous news sites, that word seems to be The Undertaker needs to take some time off for personal reasons, and will be back soon enough. Coupled with rumors of his heading to RAW, perhaps he truly is moving on to something better. Whatever that is, we’ll keep you posted as and when we hear the news!

TLC R.I.P

SAN DIEGO – Edge came to San Diego intent on taking the vacated World Heavyweight Championship and ending Undertaker’s career in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match. And at One Night Stand, the Rated-R Superstar lived up to his promise – winning his fifth World Championship and banishing The Phenom from WWE.

In a brutal confrontation, the Ultimate Opportunist used his vast, victorious experience in TLC Matches to his advantage, climbing the ladder to claim the “richest prize in the game.” And while Undertaker proved that he could more than hold his own in the contest, Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder made sure The Phenom couldn’t capitalize. The duo attacked the former champion, leaving an opening for Edge to take control, but Undertaker fought back and delivered a Last Ride through two tables. But “The Family” attacked, and as it appeared the gold was The Deadman’s, Edge shocked the world, pushing the ladder and crushing Undertaker’s hopes – ascending the rungs to take back the gold.

With Undertaker effectively gone from WWE, can anybody step up to challenge the new World Heavyweight Champion Edge and “The Family”? Will any Superstar want to go head-to-head with the “master manipulator” and his fiancée, SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero, after seeing how they eliminated The Deadman from WWE with their schemes over the past few months?

One thing is certain, it won’t be Undertaker. A career worthy of WWE Hall of Fame induction has been ended by the plans of a title-hungry Edge and his lover
– a fate no Superstar wants to repeat.

One Night Stand Results - All Over?

Edge goes in the ring, grabs a ladder and sets it up underneath the handing title, but Undertaker enters and throws him off. Undertaker sets the ladder on top of one of the turnbuckles but Edge sends Taker flying into it face first. Edge then goes outside the ring and grabs a second ladder and sets it up on the opposite turnbuckle. He tries to irish whip Undertaker into it, but Taker counters and Edge gets a dose of the ladder.

Taker gets a THIRD ladder and brings it into the ring setting it up in the middle. He climbs to the top on one side and Edge comes up the other. Taker throws him off and Edge lands on one of the other ladders, but quickly comes back pushing the ladder over and Taker lands on the other ladder that was set up. Real good use of the ladder positions.

Edge rolls to the outside and Undertaker follows him as the crowd starts chanting “We want tables”! Taker grabs a chair and lands a couple of shots. Undertaker then sets Edge up on the ring apron and goes for the infamous leg drop, but Edge counters by putting a chair in his place.

Edge sets up a ladder between the ring apron and the guardrail. Taker sets up for a possible Last Ride onto that very ladder, but Edge counters with a lowblow. As Taker gets up, Edge levels him with a chairshot. Edge sets up another table (separate from the other four that are still positioned for future use more than likely). Edge then nails Taker with another chair shot and sets him up on the table. He stands up on the Smackdown announce table and a huge splash right on top of Undertaker through the table.

Edge goes back into the ring, sets the ladder up and starts climbling toward the belt. Undertaker pushes him off, but Edge lands on his feet and delivers a big spear to the Deadman! Edge then sets Undertaker’s leg up in between the ladder, stomps on it and then goes and gets a chair and delivers another shot to the leg of the Undertaker. He then goes outside the ring and brings a much taller ladder into the ring.

Edge sets the ladder up, grabs the chair again, and nails Undertaker twice to the head. Edge positions Taker’s head on top of one chair, goes and gets another one, but Taker counters with a lowblow. They both go to the ring apron and Taker hits a Chokeslam on Edge landing him on the ladder that was set up! He then goes inside and starts climbing the ladder, but here come the Edge brothers (Hawkins and Ryder) on the attack.

They set Taker up on top of a table, and position another table on top of him. Hawkins goes to the top rope, but Undertaker makes it up first and sends him flying to the outside through one table. He then chokeslams Ryder off the ring apron through another table on the outside (great spot)! However, Edge then spears Taker to the outside. He sets two tables up on top of each other on the insider of the ring and starts climbing the ladder again.

Undertaker makes it back into the ring and starts climbing after Edge and delivers the Last Ride through the two tables set up in the corner of the ring! After finally making it back to his feet, Undertaker starts up the ladder, but then Chavo Guerrero and Bam Neely come in and interfere. They try to deliver a Conchairto, but Taker counters and hits them both with chairshots. He starts climbing the ladder again, but Edge pushes it over and sends Taker flying through the four tables on the outside!!!

Edge sets up the ladder again and starts toward the top with Undertaker laid out on the outside. He’s going extremely slow, but Taker isn’t moving. Edge grabs the title!

WINNER: Edge

An Outstanding History!

WWE.com have recently took a look at the History of the Last Man Standing match in promotion of the upcoming match between Randy Orton and Triple H, and Undertaker’s matches were mentioned.

Undertaker-Last Man Standing

Undertaker vs. The Great Khali

“Fearing that Undertaker and The Great Khali would destroy each other before their Last Man Standing Match at SummerSlam 2006, General Manager Theodore Long rescheduled it for an edition of SmackDown – the first time this brutal match type would be aired on network TV. The Deadman took the fight to the Punjabi Giant, using whatever he could get his hands on, including ring steps and steel chairs.

Though he was thrown off the stage onto a row of tables, The Phenom managed to rise before the 10-count and respond to the attack with a flurry of chair blows to Khali’s head. After being planted to the mat with a vicious chokeslam, the 7-foot-3 leviathan stayed down as Undertaker was declared the victor.”

Batista vs. The Undertaker

“After Undertaker defeated Batista at WrestleMania 23 to win the World Heavyweight Championship, The Animal challenged The Phenom to a Last Man Standing Match at Backlash 2007. Batista unloaded his entire arsenal on Undertaker, but even spinebusters and a Batista Bomb weren’t enough to keep The Deadman down – Undertaker kept on rising before the referee could complete the 10-count.

With no other options left, Batista speared The Phenom off the stage, sending both men crashing into a bank of audio equipment. They were both rendered unconscious, and as medical personnel rushed to their sides, the referee called the match a no contest, with Undertaker retaining the title.”

Smackdown 30/05/08 - Captures

Smackdown results - 30/05/08

As the world waits to see what Mr. McMahon’s million-dollar giveaway will bring, Undertaker has a different type of prize on his mind: The World Heavyweight Championship. On SmackDown, just two days before their TLC Match at One Night Stand, Edge hosted The Cutting Edge with his special guest: The Phenom.

The Rated-R Superstar and The Undertaker have had a wild ride ever since Edge came to SmackDown last year, cashing in his Money in the Bank contract to steal the World Heavyweight Championship away from The Deadman.

The events leading up to their hellish confrontation on Sunday have proved to be one powder keg after another. Edge and his fiancée, General Manager Vickie Guerrero, continue to conjure up ways to stop Undertaker and once again make the Ultimate Opportunist the World Heavyweight Champion. First, the GM stripped The Phenom of his title, deeming The Deadman’s devastating submission maneuver an illegal choke hold. Then, when it appeared Undertaker had reclaimed the gold at Judgment Day via count-out, Guerrero once again turned the tables, determining that the title remain vacant.

Before introducing his special guest, the Rated-R Superstar did what he does best — gave his audience a show they would never forget. He kicked things off by showing highlights of his success in TLC Matches; footage that showed just how much of an art form he has made out of that type of contest.

When Undertaker finally made his way to the ring, complete with a ladder on display, Edge proceeded to make him feel more comfortable. He called on “The Family,” who quickly brought a casket down to ringside. Chavo Guerrero, Bam Neely, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder then attacked The Deadman, not stopping until he was inside the closed coffin.

When Edge decided to ascend the ladder to taunt The Phenom, giving his own prediction of what would happen at One Night Stand, the lights went out on him, literally. When they came back on, Undertaker was suddenly standing on the ladder with the Rated-R Superstar. The Deadman then knocked Edge to the floor, using the ladder to clean house. Undertaker then took Edge in his clutches, when Ryder sacrificed himself, receiving a Last Ride through a table. As the show came to a close, it was The Undertaker who held the vacant title above his head.

At One Night Stand on Sunday, there is more than just the World Heavyweight Championship hanging in the balance. Could The Phenom go home with the gold, or just go home for good?

The Undertaker Smackdown to Raw

“Sources are reporting that several WWE Superstars have had it with Triple H, and many backstage are described as being on “pins and needles” when it comes to Vince McMahon’s son-in-law.

Triple H’s name has been mentioned as a possible move to SmackDown during the WWE Draft on 6/23, and there are plenty on the RAW roster that would applaud the move.

If Triple H is indeed moved to SmackDown, a possible switch would have The Undertaker moved to RAW.”

Spoilers - Detailed SmackDown Taping Results - 30/05/08

As SmackDown! starts, Edge appears on the Titantron announcing that throughout the evening, he will be showcasing the impressive career of The Undertaker, as this will be his last night on SmackDown, and he is the special guest for 'The Cutting Edge' later in the evening.

Cutting Edge segment - World Title hanging above the ring, with Ladder and Table set up, and chairs in the corners. Edge talked a lot about the same old same old, then introduced the Deadman. Once Taker was in the ring, the two circled around the ladder, looking up at the title, with Edge saying how Taker might not be so comfortable with TLC equipment around. With that, Edge called out La Familia (Chavo, Bam Neely, Hawkins, & Ryder) who wheeled out a casket. Undertaker chased Edge from the ring, and got jumped and beat down on the outside. After a while of this going back and forth, Edge nails Taker with a chair and is able to roll him into the casket. Edge then climbed up the ladder, saying that Undertaker better get used to staying buried, as his last match would be this Sunday. Then the lights went out. On TV this'll probably look different, but live from ringside you could see Undertaker roll out from underneath the ring, probably from a trap door in the casket, run in and climb the up the ladder. When the lights came back on Edge was eye to eye with the Phenom. Taker knocked Edge down and proceeded to fight with Hawkins and Ryder again. Just when it looked like Edge was going to get chokeslammed through the table, Hawkins /or Ryder (can't tell them apart) intervened and was rewarded with a Last Ride through the table as Edge backed up the ramp.

That is where I believe SmackDown went off the air, but the action didn't stop there. La Familia ran back in the ring again to gang up on The Undertaker, and just as he was getting overwhelmed again, Kane came out to help his brother. The Brothers of Destruction double-chokeslammed Hawkins and Ryder, then Bam Neely was chokeslammed by Kane as Edge was Tombstoned by Undertaker. Kane and Taker walked up the ramp, posed, and the show was over.

All in all, not too bad for a SmackDown. Colorado definitely needs a PPV here.

Undertaker vs Edge TLC Match for World Heavyweight Championship

Sunday, June 1, 2008

On SmackDown, General Manager Vickie Guerrero announced that the still-vacated World Heavyweight Championship would be decided in a Table, Ladders and Chairs Match between Edge and Undertaker at One Night Stand. Despite our fans’ emphatic disapproval, Vickie also threatened Undertaker’s future as a WWE Superstar.

“If Undertaker loses this match, this will be the last time you see him. Because if he loses his match, he will be banished from the entire WWE,” she declared.

At One Night Stand, the Ultimate Opportunist will continue on his path to obtain the gold, with the help of his influential fiancée. How will The Phenom fare in a contest Edge has built his career on? He has lost only one TLC Match at Unforgiven in 2006, but clearly he has the overwhelming advantage.

The title has been without a holder since Guerrero stripped Undertaker of the gold. The decision was prompted by The Deadman’s repeated use of an illegal choke hold – including against the GM’s fiancé Edge at WrestleMania XXIV and Backlash. Then, after defeating Edge at Judgment Day, she inhibited him from reclaiming the title, insisting that a count-out victory over Edge could not grant him the gold.

The Deadman has been known to use extreme force to take out whoever stands in his way. And with the prospect of being banished from WWE, it’s possible he may unleash more fury on Edge than our fans have ever witnessed.

After all that has happened between Undertaker and Edge over the past year, it is time for one of them to claim the “richest prize in the game” at One Night Stand. But until then, the question still lingers: Who will be the next World Heavyweight Champion?
